Summer Events in Dublin
The summer events schedule in Dublin is packed. It’s festival season and all bases are covered from partying to wellness. There are concerts in Trinity College as part of their Summer Series that include Roisin Murphy and Madness. Def Leppard & Motley Crew play in Marlay Park and there are a whole host of other concerts throughout the summer. Pop into WellFest in IMMA, Taste of Dublin in Iveagh Gardens, or the Big Grill Festival in Herbert Park. There are sporting events throughout the summer including the all-important All-Ireland finals in July & August. You’ll also find awards, exhibitions, shows, street parties, and comedy throughout the city during the warmer months. The city really comes alive in the summer.
Enjoy Phoenix Park
Make the most of the short summer months with a visit to the jewel in Dublin’s crown, Phoenix Park. It’s by no means a hidden gem, in fact, it is the largest walled park in Europe, but there are plenty of surprises inside. Just 2 minutes away from our hotel, take the train and spend a day in Dublin Zoo, the number one family attraction in Ireland. You can also visit Aras an Uachtarain, the home of President Higgins, his wife Sabine, and their adorable dogs. You’ll see herds of wild deer, roaming freely, formal & informal gardens, and the official Irish state guest house Farmleigh. There are rolling fields, monuments, playgrounds, gardens and so much more to enjoy in the summer sun. It’s less than 15 minutes door-to-door from our Dublin Hotel.
Al Fresco
One of the best parts of summer is dining outdoors. Imagine spending time on a rooftop bar, a beer garden, or some lovely on-street seating, enjoying lunch with a chilled glass of wine – it doesn’t get any better! There are some excellent outdoor dining options in Dublin from fine dining to street food. Pop into the beautiful Sophies Rooftop Restaurant for a delicious brunch with fantastic views of the city. The Grayson near St. Stephens Green has a stylish outdoor space for a special occasion meal and Fire Steakhouse gives you the perfect spot for people-watching. Grab a picnic lunch from one of the dozens of takeaway places in the city and head to Phoenix Park or Stephens Green for a lovely lunch in the sun.
Summer by the Sea
Trips to the beach likely aren’t the first thing you think about in Dublin, but you’d be surprised how many beautiful seaside spots there are to enjoy. Hop on the train near Aspect Hotel into the city and take a short hop on the DART to the wonderful town of Howth. You can take a dip in the Irish Sea, enjoy long walks or hikes up Howth Hill and you’ll find food markets on the weekend. On the opposite side of the city, there are beautiful spots like Dun Laoghaire, Seapoint, and Bray. Reward yourself after a chilly swim with some of the freshest fish and chips, freshly caught locally. After a day of exploring, enjoy dinner & drinks in the beautiful Willow Restaurant in our Dublin Hotel before retiring to a comfortable, spacious guest room.
